Haworthiad

Haworthiad is the journal of the Haworthia Society.  It began life in 1986 as a simple un-illustrated newsletter of twelve A5 pages, and has gradually grown to its present size.  It is now published, and professionally printed, three times a year, in February, June and October.  Each issue comprises around forty pages between stiff covers and is liberally illustrated in both colour and monochrome.

In October 2005, the committee decided that the February 2006 “Haworthiad”, and all future editions, would carry full colour throughout – including the cover. As well as making the Journal even more attractive, it also eased the Technical Editor’s task as it made the layout much more flexible.

The content is intended to provide material of interest to all our members.  The majority of these are growers, so Haworthiad is biased towards cultivation and propagation.  Members with a deeper interest are not forgotten however.  They will appreciate reports of field studies by internationally respected authors.  Those who enjoy exhibiting plants will be enthused, and possibly depressed, by the photographs of some of the superb specimens to be seen in our shows.  Above all, Haworthiad provides a forum for the exchange of information and opinion between members.

We are always on the lookout for new authors and if you would like to contribute to the journal please contact our editor.
